Is there anything more frustrating than finding the absolutely perfect gift for someone at an un-be-LEEV-able price only to get home and be unable to remove that bright orange sale price tag without ruining the box. Well, to the rescue, a sales clerk from Marshall’s who gave me the hair dryer tip. Works great!

• To remove price tags, stickers, labels, Contact paper or decals from virtually any surface, use a hair dryer to soften the glue. Start at one corner and gently peel back while continuing to blow with the dryer. This works for virtually any stickers or labels. It has always worked like a charm for me with price tags to old Contact Paper.  I have never had a problem with any adhesive residue.
• You can also a warm iron–where practical. 
• Saturate the label or sticker with cider vinegar, De-Solv-It or Goo-Gone which will eat away the adhesive. Wipe with a soft cloth
• If there is any remaining residue use lighter fluid, baby oil, hairspray or De-Solv-It or Goo-Gone.  These last two products are available at any hardware store and can be used for a lot of stuff around the house, like removing crayon marks, removing gum, even as a stain remover.
• Removing bumper stickers is best done when you can expose the sticker to hot sun for a half hour or so before using one of the above methods. So when your “Honor Student,” of whom you are the parent fails all her classes, or your candidate for president looses the election or you’ve changed your mind about broadcasting one or more pet causes…. or you just need to sell your car(!) you can safely and easily remove all traces of your former allegience(s). Isn’t that comforting!
